14 & Under League Rules Of Play

The 14U rules of play are as follows:

Utilize ASA RULES with the following exceptions:

1. Cinderella batting - all players in attendance bat
2. Roster size is of 15 - you may fill in from time to time as needed with rec players if you are short players. Only 15 trophies will be provided
3. Free substitution of players. Re-entry rule not in affect
4. Age appropriate pitching distances
5. Pitchers can also re-entry freely
6. Home team is the host team and will provide umpire
7. 7 inning games - Mercy at 12 runs after 5 innings (4 1/2 if winning) or 8 runs after 6 (5 1/2 if winning) unless coaches want to continue
8. Game time limit: 2 hour drop dead time limit. No new inning to begin after 1 hr. 45 minutes.
   
   Playoffs: same rule applies as above. If score is tied after no new inning time limit then the International tie-breaker is in effect. Semi- final and Championship game will be played until completion. International tie breaker to be used in semi finals and Championship game after regulation innings played.

Umpire Fees

Umpire fee to be split by both teams regardless if home or away until semis and finals. Sparta Softball to pay umpires for semis and finals

Schedules

To be published after meeting. Schedules will be written to accommodate whenever possible conflicts due to anticipated events. The schedule will be designed to have two games per week ..sometimes 3.

Make up Games

Sunday is the designated day for make-ups. All teams should have a field available for this purpose. Games should be made up on the Sunday following the rain out. This does not prevent two teams from agreeing at a later date on their own. However, this make up date must be agreed upon prior to the Sunday date and the League Commissioner informed.

End of Season Tournament

We will have a single elimination tournament at the end of the season. Seeding will be based on the win-lost record, with the first round games being held at the higher seed with the home team providing the umpire. Semi-Finals and Finals will be held in Sparta and the League will provide umpires for these games. Team trophies will be awarded to the two top teams and individual trophies will be given to the top 4 teams.
